Tours
Pleasure Cruises - Visiting Ixtapa Island
The morning cruise takes us through the Zihuatanejo bay, along the resorts principal beaches, such as "Las Gatas" and "La Ropa". The view of some of Zihuatanejo's finest residences and the Sierra Madre mountain range are especially beautiful if seen from the sea.As we continue north towards the rock formation and bird sanctuary in front of "Las Escolleras", the captain and crew prepare bait and tackle for some small game fishing, such as Pacific Sierra, Bonita, Cooker, Yellow Tail and Mahi Mahi. We may also encounter some sea turtles, dolphins and - during the winter - gray whales.
We disembark at Ixtapa Island for a light fresh seafood snack and a relaxing hour at the beach. While the refreshment is being cooked, you may enjoy a half hour (or more) of snorkeling at the island's coral beach; some of the best in the area. Besides the corals, an abundance of Silver Snapper and multi colored little fish are to be seen, or even fed from the shore.
Duration: 5 (depending on the time spent at the island)
Pleasure Cruises - Cruising and Snorkeling Zihua's Finest Beaches
Zihuatlán (Zihuatanejo) was a secret hiding place for pirates, such as Sir Francis Drake, because at the time our bay was not yet marked on the ocean charts. But not only pirates enjoyed the safety and beauty of these beaches, the Tarascan kings, from as far away as Patzcuaro, across the Sierra Madre mountains, spent leisure time at Las Gatas beach. The kings (Calzonzìn) men sunk a great amount of rocks in front of the beach, creating a wonderful pool for swimming and snorkeling.
The cruise begins at the harbor and takes us along the resorts main beaches, "Playa Principal", "La Madera" and along "La Ropa" beach and the historic "Las Gatas", before leaving the bay. On the way to our first snorkeling stop, the crew prepares the fishing rods and bait and with a little bit of luck we will end up with our very own fresh catch-of-the-day.
Enjoy the underwater fauna and flora in the warm Pacific waters, with the guidance of your instructor, at the unspoiled Manzanillo beach. Since access from the land side is possible only by mountain bike, this is one of the resorts best and most exclusive snorkeling spots. We will disembark at Playa Las Gatas, hopefully with our recently caught trophy and while lunch is being cooked, you may enjoy a half hour (or more) of snorkeling in the Tarascan kings natural private pool.
Along the Pacific shore line, Mahagua bay and the Palma Real beach, the cruise takes us north towards the Ixtapa Marina, where today's adventure ends.
Duration: 5 hours
Pleasure Cruises - Sunset Delight
The Sunset Cruise takes you on a motor yacht or a sailboat from Playa Linda or the Ixtapa Marina toward the rock formation and bird sanctuary in front of "Las Escolleras". Less than a mile north of the Marina you get a view of Capella Ixtapa from the sea before cruising south along the Pacific Coast to the Bay of Zihuatanejo. The picturesque sunset of the Mexican Pacific is a memory you will cherish long after returning home. The cruise ends at the Zihuatanejo harbor, from where we will return to the hotel or continue with another activity, such as shopping or dinner at your discretion.
A stop for an exclusive and romantic candle light dinner under the stars at Playa Las Gatas is optional.
Duration: 2 hours (without Las Gatas)
